Purpose: To increase the flow and/or transparency of oil paint, shorten the drying time, make the paint fatter.
Composition: vegetable oils, synthetic resin, turpentine, siccatives

• Increases the durability and elasticity of the paint film
• Brush stroke fades depending on the amount added
• Enhances shine
• Non-yellowing
• Can be diluted with turpentine or white spirit
• Flammable

Example methods:

Since each new layer of oil paint should be fatter than the previous one to prevent cracking, use a little more medium for each layer in relation to the paint. This is a matter of feel!

- Use a 50/50 mixture of turpentine (or other thinner) and medium for the first coat, and use less turpentine in the mixture with each subsequent coat, as this is a much more fluid medium.
